Biblical Christian Prayer and Meditation

Biblical Christian Prayer and Meditation.
What should a Christian do the months after celebrating on Pentecost Sunday?

#MeditateOnTheLord Jesus, the Messiah, who was raised from the dead and is a descendant of David. This is the gospel I tell others 2 Timothy 2:8

In years past, before the current day news and social media model, prayer meetings were the primary source of firsthand accounts of news and information. The community prayer meeting then offered a way to deal with the news and events. This still holds true today however, the impact of such meetings are much stronger on those who attend rather than the general public. This is one of the ways the Church has retreated rather than letting your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16. Today with Radio, Television and Internet non-Christians and Christians alike get their news and instruction on how to deal with news, culture and events from any source but God and His people.

After conquering sin and death, for you, God made a way for us to communicate with Him until His return. He said; “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 In place of the word power I always substitute two words “ability to”. He gave us the ability to!

Two of Strongs translations of the word “power” we do not hear preached much today are “moral power and excellence of soul” and “power and resources arising from numbers”.  Prayer meetings serve two purposes one of which is edifying the worshiper in moral power and excellence of soul. Webster puts it “The act of edifying, or the state of being edified; a building up, especially in a moral or spiritual sense; moral, intellectual, or spiritual improvement; instruction.” Then the result is power and resources arising from numbers of praying Christians to be witnesses (reflected as a Holy spiritual light) in both your city, surrounding areas and even faraway places you may travel. By witnesses I mean, first hand witnesses of what Christ has done in your life

“Today’s Christians need an upper room experience!”

Christian prayer and meditation brings results. The Bible instructs us on the best way to battle against sin and that is to find some like minded believers, two or three or more, to gather together in Jesus’s name also Jesus will send His Spirit to pray with you. Matthew 18:20 Sounds like a community prayer meeting to me.

The upper room was a place and time set aside to wait on the Lord and to learn how to communicate with Him. The result being strengthened in your faith through prayer, and glorifying God with your worship. Two way communications. The Psalmist sings; “May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.” Psalm 104:34

For the last 30 plus years Liz and I have studied, participated in, and attended prayer and worship meetings as it dramatically transformed, in some cases, to be no different than today’s culture. From Maranatha music which brought many Churches together into a common worship style to the latter “Worship Wars” as described in magazines like Christianity Today and Ministry Today people’s idea of worshiping or communicating with God differs greatly.

Our culture is struggling to capture the spotlight of Christian worshipers some for the purpose of Church growth or monetary reasons. Worship for the younger generation, worship for the elderly, hymns, loud songs, quiet songs, happy songs. There will come a day when we will worship God in spirit and truth. John 4:24  All are invited to believe and participate in prayer and meditation in. God is looking for an inter-generational Christ centered gathering.  We have however found that music is an integral part of the prayer setting connecting the person with the divine.

“We simply come together in prayer and meditation together with music, as one voice, with everyone reaching up to God as His Spirit directs.”

And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James.  All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer and worship together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers Acts 1:13-14 “Prayer and Worship is His people joining together connecting with God through prayer, meditation and music. Everyone joining together as one community of believers.”

Join us and the world through PGN Broadcasting and meditate on the Lord. The bible instructs us to and also explains all the benefits. The most of which is a relationship with your creator.
